A Great Weekend At The Charlotte Harbour SuperBoat Grand Prix to Kick Off The 2014 Season!

This weekend the 2014 Super Boat International season kicked off with a bang as the first inaugural Charlotte Harbor Grand Prix was a complete success as it saw a great turnout of fans from across the sun shine state to watch 30 of some of the fastest offshore teams in the world battle it out on the waters of Florida. This weekend started with the street parade and block friday night followed by testing and beach party saturday night and ended with two action packed races sunday afternoon which teams saw perfect weather and great water conditions.

The first race sunday featured to Superboat Vee class head out to the milling circle along side the production classes which saw a controversial but strong start from Snowy Mountain Brewery Super Vee Team as they walked away with the win from the drop the of green flag as Team Sun Print and the Phantom Crew fought head to head the entire race to see Sun Print take second followed closely by the #9 Phantom. In P3 the race came down to Back Pearl and 2nd Amendment after the Developer dropped out during lap 2 which allowed the Black Pearl Fountain to run hard to the win followed by the 2nd Amendment Spectre, and in P4 Rum Runners took the win followed by In Tone Crazy Chicken and the guys from Two Cruel to end a solid first race.

Race two of the day saw the big boys of the Superboat Unlimited Class running alongside the Superboat Extreme, Superboat, and Super Stock classes which a was great sight for a season opener which doesn’t always see this strong of a turn out from some of these classes this early in the year. This first race of the season for the Unlimited Class featured the likes of Miss Geico, CMS, Gasse, and Lucas Oil Silver hook which saw Miss Geico drop out after the first lap when they reportedly had a drive line blow and taking out the transmission leaving the race between the two big MTI’s as CMS lead the majority of the race from the green flag only to run into what appeared to be technical issues allowing Gasse fly past them at average speed of 119+MPH for the win with CMS finishing in second and Lucas Oil in third dropping out with one lap remaining. Team STIHL came out strong as always in the SuperBoat Class with the Broadco Cat 5 Offshore Team who chasing down the STIHL Skater to a solid second place finished with Cleveland construction in third. The outboard boats of the Super Boat Stock Class featured a great 6 boat line up which the The Hulk Redline Oil team pushed hard to the win with Top Starz Energy Drinks and Porta Products putting up a good fight to try to catch the fast due of the Hulk team but were unable to catch them resulting in a 2nd and third place finish.

These are still unofficial results but check them out below for all the numbers on all your favorite teams and catch the replay via the Official SuperBoat International Live Stream Feed which can be found by clicking here..
