Team Navy Takes the Top Spot in Round 1 of the 2014 SuperBoat Australia Series.

The Offshore SuperBoat Australia Series kicked off their 2014 season this past weekend in New Castle which included their highly anticipated new ClassOne Category taking to the water for the first time allowing teams to run over a total of 1,500 Horsepower, bringing even more horse power and speed to the shores of Australia for fans. The return to New Castle for the season openier saw a strong turn out from fans across the country which came out to see the fastest offshore boats in Australia battle head to head. This weekend of action packed racing included Supercat Extreme (ClassOne) along side their Supercat 1000, 600, and 300 classes, the big topic however all weekend was the match up between Team Navy and Maritimo in Supercat Extreme class as both teams would be finally putting their new and bigger horsepower engines to the test in their first race debut. Although Maritimo looked to have the upper hand after the pole position shootout the crew from Team Navy came back strong to win both race 1 and 2 which included a close call after a hard spin out in the last few laps of race that they managed to recover from to go onto win.

 

 

The SuperCat 1000 Class saw a strong battle between Team 3 and Global with the Team 3 crew taking the checkered flag in race 1 and Global claiming the Flag in Race 2. It was the same situation in SuperCat 600 between Saracen and Mancine which saw each take a win and the Loaner ran a solid weekend in the 400 class to win both races taking home all the points in their class.
