Another big weekend start for Offshore Racers this month as OPA brings in their 2016 season in New Jersey with teams putting their boats through the works after the winter off. With the new season brings in some new boats and new power for teams as they look to set an earlier points lead on their mission to an OPA National and World Championship title at the end of this summer. This weekend saw a solid turn out from a lot of the classes although no Super Cat or Super Stock boats made an apparence their were two extreme boats to make up for it as Miss Geico worked out some of the bugs they experienced the week before in SBI Racing as they went head to head with the Alex & Ani boat which who got out for their first time this season. All in all it was a solid start to their season for the organization and with the Lake Race approaching quickly it seems there will be many more boats getting out of the shop over the week to prepare to head out to Ozarks so expect some bigger and better numbers there. The 2016 SBI Season Opener in Cocoa Beach was a strong start to the year as lots of teams came out to the 7th Annual event to battle it out on the Space Coast. With all classes on hand the big make up of the weekend was Wake Effects CMS against the CRC Team which was running the old Gassie Boat, however from the start CMS showcased some big speed to pull away from the all the competitors to hold on to it throughout the entire race. A unfortunate start was all so conversation at hand a Miss Geico did not make it to the start line for the event due to what appeared tone mechanical issues that came as a surprise after seeing a great round of testing. All the other classes went well including the biggest class of the weekend which was the SuperBoat Class as the Performance Marine center boat set the pace holding onto the their spot as well from the drop of the green flag without having any competition through out their race which ended the weekends Thunder on Cocoa Beach.
