Bombardier Recreational Products the parent corporation behind the Evinrude outboard brand has shut down the production of the popular line of recreational engines after decades of production. In a turn of events due to recent struggles with the brand and the impact now of the pandemic BRP decided it was the time. However Mercury Marine and BRP announced together that they have struck major strategic supply agreement making Mercury Marine the suppliers for BRP boat brands which will continue. Effective immediately BRP has discontinue the production of E-TEC and E-TEC G2 engines.

Chris Drees, Mercury Marine president stated in Mercury’s official release “This agreement brings us an incredible opportunity to further grow our brand in the marketplace and introduce our award-winning portfolio of outboard engines to new customers around the world,”.
“We have enjoyed long standing relationships with Alumacraft, Manitou and Telwater and we look forward to continuing to work with them while providing class-leading outboard engines and exceptional service to all of their global customers.”
Although this doesn’t effect many high performance boater these days since Evindrudes are mostly seen onrecreational and fishing boats the brand does have deep roots with boat racing and performance boating back in the day.
