Mercury Racing has released a new motor at the 2020 MIBS. A 60R is the latest added to their “R” line up. This four-cylinder, 1.0-liter long-stroke tuned motor is all about making torque. A small but powerful little motor, it is designed with performance in mind to suit any smaller boat that is in need of a little pick me up. Being able to achieve 6,300 rpm you’ll be sure to get that acceleration you need to get moving. The motor is said by Mercury Racing to provide “amazing hole-shot acceleration for instant on-plane performance”.

With proping options available due to its advanced gear case configuration and the pure versatility of this compact outboard, it is easy to see the performance benefits of a 60R hanging off a small hydro, tunnel or v-hull. The charging system on this motor has also been thought out making it perfect for onboard accessories including gps, depth finders and possibly smaller sound systems. Which as many know who have dealt with small outboard in past, was a major issue on any outboard under 150 Hp.
A small but perfect addition to the outboard this might be the solution you’ve been looking for on your smaller more conserative weekend toys.
