The Toronto Outboard Race Club (TORC) is one of the first race organizations to confirm the cancellation of all events for the 2020 race season due to the ongoing difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic in Canada. TORC is a longstanding race organization in Southern Ontario that plays host to a number CBF/APBA Sanctioned outboard classes. The organization informed members this week in an email to address the decision.
The organization stated “There was a lot of questions to be answered with regards to townships allowing use of parks and bigger gatherings right down to sponsors giving money after being shut down for months as well as insurance and medical personal to name a few.
So with that, the decision was made to keep everyone safe on both sides of the fence (racers & spectators). I know this will not be the most popular decision but its one that had to be made never the less. The club is in a good way and at the end of the day we would like to keep it that way for our future endeavours.”
In addition to TORC other organizations are looking into also making the tough choice to skip the 2020 season, the Ottawa Valley Club is also another in the area that confirmed that their events will be canceled as well with both organizations now setting sights on the 2021 season.
